Before we start explaining the benefit of PRINCE2, lets know few difference of PRINCE and PMP
PRINCE2 is an integrated project management method, providing a set of processes and themes that can be tailored and applied to manage any project from start to finish. It provides advice aimed at all project management roles.
PMP is based on a ‘Project Management Body of Knowledge’ (PMBoK) that covers the broad spectrum of project management competencies and techniques that project managers may need to apply.
Consider You are teaching someone How to play Football. So what do you do? First You explain the rules of playing Footbal. There have to be equal numbers of player in each side and maximum of 11 players. 1 Goal keeper in each side. 1 main referee and 2 additional supporting refferee. Ball have to be kicked by foot, only goal keepers can grab the ball by hands. If anyone wants play ball with legs and hands that will be Rugby, not Footbal. etc. right?- So these is PRINCE2. And later when some already learn the rules and regulation of playing footbal you inspire them to be a Maradona or Play or Messi.–How ot be Maradona is PMP. So if we need to learn rules first than PRINCE2 is the choice. There is only PRINCE2 or non PRINCE2 project.
PRINCE2 is a Method
Integrated set of processes and themes covering the full project lifecycle
Covers all project management roles – including the project board, project manager, team managers, project assurance and support
Does not cover interpersonal skills
Makes reference to techniques – e.g. suggests that when scheduling activities, gantt charts might be useful, but does not tell you how to draw one
PMP – describes How to do it
A broad collection of ‘good practices’
Each topic area can be referred to in isolation
Targeted at project managers only
Covers interpersonal skills
Describes techniques e.g describes how to go about scheduling
